Abi Macdonald trained as a
massage therapist with Clare Maxwell Hudson at her well
respected school in London’s west end in 2002, and gained her
ITEC Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage.

During a clinical placement
on the neo-natal special care unit at St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington, Abi
saw parents being taught positive touch methods as a way of
bonding with their premature babies. Fascinated, Abi went on
to train with the International Association of Infant Massage
to become a Certified Instructor for the Massage of Infants
(CIMI). |
To compliment these areas of training, Abi
completed the following courses:
- Massage During Pregnancy and Labour 2003
(The Linda Kimber Programme)
- Indian Head Massage 2003
(Clare Maxwell Hudson School)
- Instructor for Massage in Schools 2003
(Solveig Berggren)
- Pregnancy Massage Masterclass 2004
(Essentials For Health)
- Clinical Aromatherapy 2005
(International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists)
- Facial Massage 2005
(Clare Maxwell Hudson School)
- Muscle Stimulating Techniques for the Face 2006 (Clare Maxwell Hudson School)
Abi is also a member of:
- The NHS Directory
- General Council for Massage Therapy
- The Complementary Therapists Association
During the first four years of practice, Abi worked in central and west London building a thriving private practice which included celebrity clients and international royalty. She was part of the team teaching baby massage at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital and worked alongside Clare Maxwell Hudson as a teaching assistant at her massage school. A close association with the school involved massaging at many charity events and on a voluntary basis at St Mary’s Hospital. She often gives talks/demonstrations on massage, pregnancy and baby massage.
Abi returned to her home city of Norwich in 2007 and looks forward to massaging you soon!
